Visas – IMPORTANT NOTICE
BOOK YOUR VISA APPOINTMENT WELL IN ADVANCE WAITING TIMES FOR APPOINTMENTS ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LONG.
IT IS POSSIBLE TO LODGE A VISA APPLICATION UP TO 6 MONTHS PRIOR DEPARTURE AND THE VISA PROCESSING TIME REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 15 CALENDAR DAYS FOR THE SCHENGEN VISA.
THIS EMBASSY DOES NOT ACCEPT ONLINE APPLICATIONS
THE VISA OFFICE CANNOT PROVIDE ASSISTANCE ON SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS AND/OR ON HOW TO COMPLETE APPLICATION FORMS.
APPLICATION FORM AND SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS (ONLY IN ENGLISH OR ITALIAN), MUST BE SUBMITTED BY THE APPLICANT AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW.

MALAWI
To apply for a national visa Type-D (stay longer than 90 days), Malawian citizens and foreigners resident in Malawi can contact the visa office of the Embassy of Italy in Lusaka: lusaka.visa@esteri.it.
For all types of Schengen visas (lasting up to 90 days), from the 1st September 2025, Malawian citizens and foreigners resident in Malawi can contact the VFS Office of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Lilongwe.
