General Information
The Embassy of Italy in Lusaka is responsible for citizenship applications submitted by persons resident in Zambia and Malawi. For further details on the current legislation, please refer to the [Citizenship – Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation].
Application for Italian Citizenship by Spouses of Italian Citizens
Applications must be submitted exclusively through the dedicated online portal of the Ministry of the Interior https://portaleservizi.dlci.interno.it/AliCittadinanza/ali/home.htm (in Italian only)
Residents abroad may register without SPID, using their own email address. Login credentials must be carefully kept, as all communications concerning the application will be sent through the above-mentioned portal.
Applicants are required to enter their personal details with the utmost care, as these details cannot be amended. In the event of an error, a new registration must be made using a different email address. Women must enter their maiden name as shown on their birth certificate.
Persons resident in Zambia and Malawi are strongly advised to contact the Consular Office of the Embassy (consolare.lusaka@esteri.it) before completing the application submission stage. Details and the list of required documents are available here (in Italian only).
