{"id":750,"date":"2020-03-25T12:47:52","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T10:47:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/amblusaka.esteri.it\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2020\/03\/malawi-emergenza-covid-19-2\/"},"modified":"2020-03-25T12:47:52","modified_gmt":"2020-03-25T10:47:52","slug":"malawi-emergenza-covid-19-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/amblusaka.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2020\/03\/malawi-emergenza-covid-19-2\/","title":{"rendered":"MALAWI &#8211; COVID-19 Emergency"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Malawi authorities have confirmed that the Covid-19 situation in the Country remains at Level 1.<\/p>\n<p>In order to remain on that level, the general preventive measures such as use of masks in public places, frequent washing of hand with soap and water or alcohol based disinfectants and social distancing, remain in place.<\/p>\n<p>The restriction on number of participants to public events (religious, cultural, political, sport etc) remain in place with the recommendation of presenting proof of valid COVID-19 vaccination certificates and to offer COVID -19 vaccinations at the venue of these events.<\/p>\n<p>The<strong> two international airports remain open,<\/strong> even if with a limited number of flights and access to the terminals still restricted to travellers and airport staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No restriction apply for passengers arriving in Malawi<\/strong> as currently, there are no Countries listed as high risk.<\/p>\n<p>All passengers <strong>arriving<\/strong> into Malawi must show a <strong>valid digital Covid 19 full vaccination certificate<\/strong>. Those who should not be in possession of such certificate will be expected to\u00a0be in possession of a<strong> negative PCR test<\/strong> conducted no more than <strong>72 hours prior<\/strong> to entry. Some airlines require that the Covid test be validated and registerd on the on-line platform <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedtravel.panabios.org\">https:\/\/trustedtravel.panabios.org<\/a> which will generate a personal code necessary for boarding procedures or border crossing.<\/p>\n<p>Documents requested for passengers <strong>leaving<\/strong> Malawi will depend on the <strong>applicable rules in the Country of destination<\/strong>. Travellers will be required to submit either a <strong>digital Covid 19 full vaccination certificate<\/strong> or a <strong>negative test for Covid 19<\/strong> &#8211; carried out <strong>48 hours<\/strong> prior to departure\u00a0In some cases the Covid test will need to be validated and registered on the on-line platform <a href=\"https:\/\/trustedtravel.panabios.org\">https:\/\/trustedtravel.panabios.org<\/a> which will generate a personal code necessary for boarding procedures or border crossing.<\/p>\n<p>It is recommended to check with your <strong>airline<\/strong> which are the rules relating to vaccination certificates as well as the validity times of the negative Covid-test as they can vary not only according to the destination, but also according to the transits to be made along the route and may be subject to changes and updates even with very short notice.<\/p>\n<p>The Government of Malawi reserves the right to implement new measures at any given time following National and International developments on the Pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The local authorities have set up the following toll free numbers from mobiles (54747 for Airtel or 929 for MTN) as well as rapid response numbers from the District Health Offices<\/p>\n<p>More information and updates may be found on the Facebook page of the Malawian Government<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Malawi authorities have confirmed that the Covid-19 situation in the Country remains at Level 1.
