RES4Africa, in partnership with ZESCO, Zambia\u2019s electricity utility company, and thanks to the support of CESI, EGP and TERNA, is leading the \u201cWorkshop on non-dispatchable renewable energies integration into the grid\u201d which is taking place in Lusaka from 5th to 6th September 2018.<\/p>\n
The “Workshop on non-dispatchable renewable energies integration into the grid” will train 30 managers and technicians from ZESCO, Ministry of Energy of Zambia and Energy Regulatory Body (ERB). The training will be officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Hon. Matthew Nkhuwa and by the CEO of ZESCO, Mr. Victor Mundende.<\/p>\n
The Workshop will shed light on the main challenges that the Zambian TSO will face with the introduction of new generation from non-dispatchable renewable sources (wind and solar), analysing possible solutions according to the European and South African experience. Thanks to the expertise of RES4Africa members, the workshop will also propose potential regulatory reforms to support non-programmable renewable energy deployment and will show how storage systems can support the stability of the grid.<\/p>\n
The workshop will be an opportunity to share lessons learned and best practices to handle and overtake the transition period too.<\/p>\n
Overcoming the challenges related to renewable integration will be crucial to unlock Zambia\u2019s vast non-programmable renewable energy sources.
