Italian Mediterranean Cuisine 5th to 9th November 2020
In the frame of “ Vivere All’Italiana” the Embassy celebrated the Italian Cuisine Week in order to promote Mediterranean gastronomy in Zambia by organizing a series of culinary activities that took place from 5 to 9 November 2019.
A famous Italian chef, Alessandro Del Bono, came from Sicily to Lusaka and Livingstone to train young Zambian chefs, sharing with them the nutritional value of the Italian tradition combined with the refined taste. He proposed the excellence of Mediterranean cuisine to Zambian civil society on the occasion of a successful Gala Dinner at the "Rosso" Italian restaurant in Lusaka and in the well-known "Olga's Italian Corner" and "Avani" restaurants in Livingstone.
Other occasions to appreciate Mediterranean cuisine were two events that took place at the Ambassador's residence, one of which with the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Culture, the Hon. Chitotela; the Minister appreciated the initiative and, in particular, emphasized the value of the training of Zambian chefs as a moment of cultural exchange and enhancement of Italian cuisine in local restaurants.
