GENERAL INFORMATION

The emergency caused by COVID-19 since January 2020 is still affecting the whole world.

It is therefore recommended that all those intending to travel under the current circumstances, take into consideration the possible health risks involved. In particular it must be considered that when it is mandatory to undergo a PCR or rapid Covid Test in order to travel, the results could be positive. In such cases it becomes impossible to travel and one would have to follow quarantine and/or isolation procedures implemented by the Country in which the positive result has been issued.

In some Countries the same isolation/quarantine procedures apply for those so called “contacts” of a subject who then tested positive.

In this framework, it is highly recommended to carefully plan each aspect of the trip including the possibility of having to postpone the return trip, as well as taking into consideration a medical insurance that includes a cover for Covid-19.

MEASURES WITHIN ITALY

Considering the epidemiological situation both at National and International level, the Italian Ministry of Health has updated the rules regarding entry and exit of travellers as of May 1st 2022, up to the end of May.

All the different lists by Country are no longer applicable and the rules for entry into the National territory from EU, Schengen Countries and the rest of the World will be the same.

Providing that no Covid-19 symptoms are present, entry into Italy is permitted subject to possession of COVID-19 Green Pass which may be obtained with a vaccination certificate, a medical certificate confirming having recovered from Covid, or with a negative PCR or rapid antigen test) or a vaccination certificate for one of the recognized vaccines.

In case one of the two requirements mentioned above should not be met, passengers will be subject to a 5 day quarantine with a compulsory rapid antigen test or PCR test at the end.

Children who are less than 6 years old will be exempted from the PCR or antigen tests.

The Italian Ministry of Health has recognised the validity of some of the vaccines administered abroad and has set the rules for Italian Nationals living abroad (and their family members) to obtain the Green Pass (see the section dedicated to the Green pass in this web-site).

Foreign nationals who have received a vaccination with one of the recognized vaccines, in Italy will be able to access all places and services where a Green Pass is required, provided that the vaccination certificates clearly states:

1. Holder’s personal details

2. Vaccine details

3. Date/dates of the doses

4. Details of the issuing authority – The certificates must be issued in Italian, English, French, Spanish, German or, if in another language, are accompanied by a certified translation.

Please note that different airlines may implement other rules such as accepting only PCR test to be carried out at times different to the ones stipulated above.
