On 4 August 2021 the Italian Ministry of Health established the procedures (in Italian only) for issuing the EU Digital Covid-19 Certificate in favor of Italian citizens who received vaccines against COVID-19 approved by the European Agency for medicines (EMA) and the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) or who present a certificate of recovery issued by the foreign Health Authority.
Regardless of enrollment in the National Health System (also for AIRE members), Italian citizens, whilst in Italy, will have to contact their respective relevant Health Authorities in the manner established by the Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
Please note the measure also applies under certain conditions to those who have received abroad only one dose of vaccine for the multi-dose vaccine cycle.
Wth a new provision dated 23rd September 2021 (document only in Italian), the Italian Ministry of Health has also recognized the following vaccinations:
– Covidshield (Serum Institute of India), produced with Astra Zeneca license
– R-CoVI (R-Pharm), produced with Astra Zeneca license
– Covid-19 vaccine-recombinant (Fiorcruz), produced with Astra Zeneca license
– Vaccines for which the holder of the marketing authorization is the same as in the EU (annex 1 of the circular in Italian)
The procedures for obtaining the green certification remain unchanged.
