IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The American Embassy in Lilongwe is considering the possibility of organizing a flight in the next two weeks to bring back to the United States its citizens stranded in Malawi.
The opportunity has been extended to European citizens who may be interested, in the event that there will be residual places after boarding all US citizens.
The flight currently foresees its departure from Lilongwe to Washington with transit to Addis Ababa. Should there be European citizens on board, a further transit to a European capital (yet to be defined) would be added, to allow the disembarkation of EU citizens who must have had already organized their next trip to their final destinations.
In this regard, you are reminded that, for travel to Italy, the obligations and procedures that the current legislation provides for returns from abroad, must be respected; these can be found in the dedicated section on the website "Esteri.it" link
The costs will depend on the route and the number of tickets that will be sold, but will indicatively be between US$ 2,000 and 3,000 per ticket. Currently this would be the only organized flight out of Malawi.
If you are interested, please fill in and return to this email address consolare.lusaka@esteri.it, with the utmost urgency - in any case no later than Monday 13 April at 10.00 am- the attached form .
The data contained will subsequently be forwarded by this Embassy to the European Union Delegation in Lilongwe who will act as local coordinator.
The Embassy remains available and can be reached at the consolare.lusaka@esteri.it email address or mobile number +260 96 6250755.
