Constitutional referendum 2020. Temporarily abroad Voters. Right to vote by correspondence

Italian voters who for work, study or medical treatment find themselves temporarily abroad, for a period of at least three months, in which the date of the popular referendum for the confirmation (29 March 2020) of the constitutional law relating to reduction of the number of parliamentarians, as well as family members with their cohabitants, will be able to exercise the right to vote by correspondence (art. 4-bis, paragraph 1, law 459 of 27 December 2001), receiving the electoral envelope containing the ballot paper temporary residence address abroad.

To exercise their right to vote by correspondence, these voters must send a specific option to the Italian MUNICIPALITY where they are enlisted by February 26, 2020.
The option (find here the attached form or on free paper) can be sent by post, fax, e-mail, even uncertified, or sent by hand to the Municipality also by a person other than the person concerned.

The option, compulsorily accompanied by a copy of a valid identity document of the voter, must in any case contain the complete foreign postal address to which the electoral envelope must be sent, the indication of the consular office responsible for the territory and a declaration attesting possession of the requirements for admission to the vote by correspondence (or that you are – for work, study or medical treatment) for a period of at least three months in which the date of the consultations takes place in a foreign country in which to whom you are not a resident, or who is a family member of a citizen who is in the aforementioned conditions).

The option must be made pursuant to articles 46 and 47 of the decree of the President of the Republic of 28 December 2000, n. 445 (consolidated text of the legislative and regulatory provisions on administrative documentation), declaring that it is aware of the criminal consequences in the event of false declarations (art. 76 of the aforementioned Presidential Decree 445/2000).

It is possible to revoke the same option within the same term (February 26, 2020). Finally, please note that the option is valid only for the vote to which it refers (or, in this case, for the referendum consultations of 29 March 2020).
